Does height influence decisions?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
“Tall or short, we need good workers!” Tell that to someone who’s small or average height! Right?
The taller people were always more popular in school and it just carries over into the workplace, doesn’t it?
Being tall carries so many advantages: they’re seen as being more capable, commanding more respect, looked to for leadership, and they seem to end up being more successful!
What do you tall folks say?
But hey! What about use employees that aren’t tall? We can get the “short end of the stick” when it comes to opportunities at work!
Question: If you’re not a tall employee, have you been discriminated against?
Don’t mean to leave you out … what’s been your experience with workplace bias as a taller person?
We’re influenced by people’s height and we make workplace decisions accordingly, even if it’s just who we hang with!
Are we “big enough” to tell it like it is? Where do you stand?

I have never noticed any benefit in the work place for being tall. But in a general sense, it is great to be tall b/c you do demand more attention or presence.
As a girl, in a crowd I don’t have to worry about being pushed around a lot, or being intimdated by a taller guy/person or being smothered or not being able to see. I think there are advantages and disadvantages to what ever you are: small, average, or tall.

It is wonderful being tall. But, as a woman, it has been suggested to me that I sit down whenever possible when I am speaking to someone in management in an effort not to intimidate. I work in an environment that is majority males and it doesn’t seem to be a problem for them. I can’t say that I have been shown special treatment or given special priveleges because of my height.

I have never noticed any bias in the workplace due to my being short. I get just as much respect if not more than my co-workers (whose hieght I have never taken into consideration) because of my positive attitude and undeniable skills. My prescence itself demands respect from others. I would never fall back on any of my physical attributes in hopes they would get me certain rewards. This includes my height. I love being short, but I would never use it get a certain reaction in the workplace. I am too qualified for that.
