Welcome to the new ajcjobs!

I’m excited to introduce the new ajcjobs.com beta, the best place to find a job in Atlanta!

As you’ve probably noticed, we are unveiling a new look today. We took your thoughts and comments into consideration, and have made several changes:

  • New site design
  • Improved, consistent navigation
  • A brand new job search engine
  • Ability to find jobs by neighborhood
  • New advertising opportunities

We have improved our job search capabilities significantly, making it easier for you to find exactly the job you are looking for. You start your search from the homepage by selecting a Job Function, Location or Type of Company, or entering any keyword. From there, you can narrow your results by one of several criteria:

  • Job Function
  • Location
  • Type of Company
  • Status - Full-time or Part-time
  • Featured Employer - our top employers, with the most jobs
  • Education required
  • Additional keywords

And for the first time, you can drill down your search to the specific neighborhood. You don’t have to know a zip code (because who really knows any zip code but your own, anyhow?) With ajcjobs, you can search Atlanta the way you know Atlanta - by neighborhood.

My name is Valerie Nozick, and I’m the new ajcjobs Product Manager. I’ll be here all day Wednesday to answer your questions about the new site, and how to get the best out of it. Don’t know where to find something? Want to get some tips on improving your search? I’ll do my best to answer the questions.

I’ll start with a popular question - what happens to my saved Search Agent? Your search agents will continue to work with the new ajcjobs exactly as it did before. To save a new search and have it emailed to you as often (or as rarely) as you like:

  1. Login to your ajcjobs account
  2. Use the new ajcjobs search tool to define exactly the search criteria you want
  3. Click on “Save as Search Agent” in the left navigation, above the narrowing options
  4. Enter in a search agent name, and select how often you want email notifications about matching jobs
  5. Click on Enter

Don’t be afraid to ask other questions, or make a comment or suggestion. This is a beta release, and we are constantly looking for ways to improve things and make it easier for you to find the job you want.

Thank you for coming to ajcjobs. We hope you enjoy the new site design and job search functionality!

This new format is messy and hard to use. Please go back to the old job search format.

Could you please NOT put Aberdeen in with cities in Henry/Clayton/Fayette?

Aberdeen is NOT located in any of these counties, never has been. It drives me crazy everytime I see it there!

Thank you!!!

New look, same old problem, the same job listed many, many times. The multiple listings look like different jobs so you have to open all of them. Why not do “1” listing for each job?

E - Thanks for pointing this out. We will work on it.

Frank - This is a known bug, related to the data feed from the paper. Thank you for your patience while we work on it.

This new site is horrible. I thought yahoo sent me to some knockoff job site. I much rather the old site. It is easier to follow. This is very messy and unprofessional. It wasn’t broke; don’t fix it!!

SRG - what things are you having trouble finding on the site? What seems unintuitive? How can we improve things?

Where is the apply for button to send your info and resume?

The apply button is labeled “Apply Now”, and appears at the top left and bottom left side of the job listing. Some employers have chosen not to have “Apply Now” buttons on their listings. Those employers will have an email address or Web page contained within their job listing.

This site used to be easy to use. Now it is awful. You can only choose one area and/or one type of job at a time. Can no longer hold the Ctrl key down and choose up to six. It looks like you can still do this when you set up a search agent but the company box is blank and you cannot actually set up a new search agent.

Looks like I am headed to Monster.com if you don’t go back to the old way very soon!

The old site was much better. Please bring it back!

This new system is twice as hard to find what I need. It’s too much extra hassle. AJC, please go back to the old system. I would not call this “improved” in any way, shape, or form. Thank you.

I love the new site. It’s easier to navigate, and is now a much better website.

New design same ole problems! As example today the same job “vice president” is listed 8 or 9 time. so you open each one only to see it is the same job listed prior. Please do not fix, it has been this way for years so it is obvious no one at AJC cares. Just like all the miss-spelled words in your newspaper. Good Luck

New site is not user friendly. Each time I change the keyword, I have to re-select the location and date sort. Old site let you change keywords much easier. I much preferred the old site.

I’m sorry Ms. Valerie, but your “new and improved” design is simply awful. It is NOT easier to navigate, but requires several more steps to find what I”m looking for, especially if I need to look in more than one category. Why “fix” something that was not broken? The previous system was a simple, easy to follow, uncomplicated design. Why take something that works and muck it up?

I’m sorry, but I have to leave work early today so I won’t be able to respond to comments until Monday. Thank you for all of your feedback. I appreciate all of it (even the not so positive comments), and will take everything under consideration for future site development.
