What is your ultimate dream job?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Between the ages of six and 16, I went through phases of wanting to be a singer, interpretor and psychologist. Instead, I am happily an Online Producer today even though I was pursuing an acting career in my late teens back in London.
We all have dreams, some we never achieve and some we keep a hold of in our hearts and minds - just in case.
A lot of us don’t even have careers in fields in which we majored in at college.
Are you in sales but aspire to be a photographer? Do you strive to be a prize-winning author but work as a data entry clerk just to pay the bills?
If you could throw caution to the wind and really pursue a career doing what you love, what career would you have?
What is your ultimate dream job?

Good topic! This subject has been on my mind a lot lately because I am just miserable at work.
I am bass player in my own band but have to work in retail to make ends meet. I really want to play bass for a big act and tour but how realistic is that dream?

This month I want to be the water-boy, er water-person, for the LA Galaxy come summer.
Short of that, I would love to be a cookbook writer & personal cook.

When I was a child I wanted to be a lot of things, but a Disney animator was always near the top of the list. A few “little things” — such as a lack of the necessary skills! — have stood in my way. (But it’s a lot more fun to pretend I’m not a professional animator because I don’t want to move to Anaheim or Orlando. Ha ha!) Now my adult-years “dream job” is to be paid an annual salary by a big company to do community-service projects (build Habitat houses, tutor children, etc.) full time. I wouldn’t mind putting in 40 hours a week if I were doing something interesting that really made a difference!

My dream job would be on an island…serving cocktails all day to tourists…and the only thing I would have to say was, “would you like some more lime? Twist of lemon, maybe? Yes, I think I could add some more Grey Goose…”…

Nineteen years and about a hundred “new career path!” epiphanies later, I find myself coming back to the career I identified myself as wanting at age 7: I want people to publish my fiction and pay me for it! I’ve been working on this goal in earnest for quite some time, but, oh my, is it a time-consuming process. In the past year, I’ve written my 16th novel first draft and begun the editing process, and I know I have a long way to go before I start querying literary agents about my work.
But even if I’m ever lucky enough to be able to support myself on my writing, there’s no way I’d be able to just shut myself inside my house and write all day, every day. My current day job involves writing; I talk to few people during the course of the day and I often leave the office feeling drained. I need people around to keep myself inspired, and I’d love to be able to devote a good portion of my week to community service projects that keep me mentally and physically active. Habit for Humanity, mentioned above, would be ideal. Teaching reading or English skills to kids would also be awesome.

I would love to get paid to shop all day. I love bargain-hunting and have been meaning to look into becoming a personal shopper!

I want to be the next Rachel Ray. I love cooking but would rather be a celebrity chef as opposed the head chef at a restaurant, which is what I am now.
I think food brings so much joy and variety to life and want to share my dream with others!

I would love to work with kids, as a camp counselor, or day care owner, whatever . Young, old, teens, I don’t care. I love being around kids. I have several myself.

Ultimate dream job… working for the NFL or NBA! Not as a player, seeing that I’m a woman and I don’t have a clue about football or basketball, but I’d love to work along side all of the players or even just being in the NFL offices knowing that I’m a part of making Monday Night Football happen or being in the box during the NBA All-Star game!

I would love to either be a sex columnist a la Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City or a food critic. Getting paid to eat and write would be so cool.

Whewn I was growing up I wanted to be a UN amabassador believe it or not. I loved political science, people and I wanted to work with public policies and help others. Now, I am a bit more realistic and with my international business and spanish degree, I will like to work my way up the corporate ladder, in what field—I have no idea yet.

I am on a good path to my dream job as a social worker, just doesn’t pay what I am worth or want. Helping and working with people I like, but I would so enjoy traveling locally talking to small, medium and large groups about real issues.
I would like to be self-employed without the fear of health insurance and retirement benefits. I would like maybe 2 hour slots set aside to do short term therapy once a week to maintain my clinical skills. But of course thouse 2 hour slot to pay big bucks.
I would only want to work three days a week (MTW), raking in a lot of money. Spending the remaining time as a stay at home mom. I so enjoy spending time with my two boys.
I want my cake and eat it too. Try to make my dream job a reality.

Well I had wanted to be a wedding photographer until I heard the story of the couple who wanted to save money so they got their friend to do their wedding photos. The pictures didn’t come to par with the couple so they sued their friend and got enough money to go on a second honeymoon….no thanks. Second choice is the import business.

I’ am actually in the process of pursuing my dream job to become the best Image Consultant ever, I specialize in Wardrobe Styling (Personal Shopping) I love it! I made a decision that required complete sacrifice and lots of planning (saved money) and resigned from my fulltime job back in October of 2006 to pursue my passion for fashion.

I too am in the process of making my dream job happen. I write screenplays, novels, music… etc. Love it!. Unfortunately,I’m not getting paid. Yet. Now I have to find my market and a buyer. Good things come through perserverence.
