Keep ‘Frenemies’ closer at work or not?

Who needs friends at work when there is one individual, your lunch buddy or coffee pal perhaps who is constantly trying to upstage you?

How do you cope with coworkers who claim to be your best friend, but then he or she coldly stabs you in the back by stealing your ideas, projects and taking all the credit?

Is he or she your friend or foe? How safe is it to trust your Frenemy?

You cannot go into a job thinking you are going to meet your best friend. Everyone at work is looking to advance. Just beacause your “so called” lunch buddy says they are your friend be careful of what you say around them. They will use information that you discuss with them in private conversations and report back your boss or still your ideas to get ahead in game. You have to keep your co- workers at a distance. It kills me people are so quick to call someone a friend. It is very hard to find a true friend , and rest assured the person you met 3 months ago at a new job, who happens to have some of the same interests as you may not turn out to be your friend for life. That’s just life. Maybe if we all went to work to actually work and not be the most popular, just because we were in high school and college we may be able to move further in our careers— isn’t this the main goal anyway? Career advancement, not finding a new best friend.
