Dewey Color System a new hue in testing
"You like 'poe-tay-toe' and I like 'poe-tah-toe.' " As lyrics from the song "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" illustrate, people pronounce words differently. But suppose the difference goes deeper than pronunciation? Suppose you're thinking "Idaho," and I'm thinking "yam"?
Language isn't always a precise or clear means of communication, which is why Dewey Sadka decided to bypass it altogether to create a better way for people to learn about themselves.
"Your color preferences can reveal who you really are, not your preconceived notions of who you think you are," said Sadka, author and CEO of the Dewey Color System.
As the founder of Temp Force staffing company, Sadka spent many years observing people's behavioral patterns and grew frustrated with traditional assessment tools that he believed only scratched the surface of people's personalities and motivations. His interest in the link between color and emotions led him to develop the patented Dewey Color System, which is based on the theory that color can reveal the core of an individual's personality.
His test is fast, easy and accurate, according to the results of eight years of development.
"Our system is the first color system to be validated against respected and well-known instruments," Sadka said. "We're still validating it, but we're getting high statistical correlations, and I believe they'll go higher as we seek to greatly increase our sample base of testers.
"When I took the test, I expected to score highest on creativity, but I'm investigative. I wish I'd known that at 19, when I was in college and thinking about careers. It would have been a great resource."
