$225,000 in grants available to schools
About $225,000 in grants will be available this year to nursing schools in Georgia, thanks to funds raised during the 2003 Johnson & Johnson "Celebrate Nursing" gala in November.
The Georgia Hospital Association, working within National Student Nurses Association guidelines, is soliciting grant applications from nursing schools. The grant money, which is limited to about $25,000 per applicant, can be used to support faculty salary or summer teaching positions, but cannot be used in recruiting efforts for faculty or scholarships for students, said Karen Waters, GHA vice president of professional services.
GHA sent preliminary information about the grants to nursing schools in early April, with additional information due to schools early this month, she said. The deadline for grant applications is June 11.
"This can be used to support faculty salary if they want to teach in the summer, or to help establish a program to mentor new faculty or clinical instructors," Waters said.
For information, contact Waters at 770-249-4540.
